Nothing Matters

Nothing Matters Cover

When we cry out to God and nothing seems to change, nothing is really changing! We may think God is doing nothing in response to our prayers, but be assured He is not wasting this “nothing”! And deep down we know that He truly is doing something, just not acting in the way we desire or even see. What appears to be undesirable to us for the moment or for a lifetime is still God’s answer and response to our prayer, even if it appears to not be anything. God works through even the worst affliction to accomplish far more than we can even imagine at the moment, even to coming generations.

Why I Wrote the Book

When you first read these two words Nothing Matters, you default to the usual cultural meaning of the word nothing, but if you think a moment, there is a noun and a verb. Nouns are something, and thus the nothing is really something that matters! Years ago, I was intrigued by the causal way we use the word nothing in our culture. Thus began my thinking about nothing then writing about nothing, all the time truly realizing that nothing then has to be something. We simply use the word when we do not know or understand the real something we are conscious of quite deep within. Look at the world around us and see the mathematical zero taught to us as nil, naught—it is really an entity that is defined and has rules, and we can actually have something that is less than zero. We also see that high tide is a real something, that instant of seeming “no thing” when the tide is neither coming in nor going out—nevertheless, a real entity that we assign a name. Nothing is seen throughout the Scriptures. The Bible teaches us that we come into the world “with nothing” and will certainly “take nothing” as we leave this world. My desire is to challenge you to think about your life and its true purpose, so that you do not waste your nothing. You see, nothing truly does matter!

What to Expect

This paperback version of the book is divided into 9 chapters, each of which contains an important element in understanding that nothing does matter! There are chapters on common use of the word nothing, seeing nothing in the world around us, observing how nothing is used in the Bible, and the application of nothing in each of our lives, followed by chapters on finding significance in our lives and finishing this earthly life well.
